Dolphins Pre-school in Hove is celebrating a rare and remarkable achievement after being rated Outstanding in all areas<\/em> by Ofsted for the fourth consecutive inspection, following a visit on 18 June 2025.<\/p>

This exceptional rating\u2014awarded with no recommendations for improvement<\/strong>\u2014places Dolphins among the most consistently high-performing early years settings in the country. It reflects a long-standing commitment to excellence in early education and care.<\/p>

\u201cBeing rated Outstanding for a fourth time is incredibly rare and a true testament to the dedication and skill of our entire team,\u201d said Marita Farrant, Deputy Principal of Dolphins Pre-school. \u201cWe are deeply proud of the nurturing, high-quality environment<\/strong> we have created for children and families in Brighton & Hove.\u201d<\/p>

Ofsted reported \u201cThe support and care that children receive is exceptional <\/strong>and they flourish at the pre-school. Staff are attuned to the needs of all children and work incredibly hard to provide a stimulating, bespoke curriculum that covers all areas of learning<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>

Children at Dolphins thrive in a respectful, nurturing environment<\/strong> where they develop deep emotional resilience, strong independence, and a love of learning. The pre-school\u2019s bespoke early reading scheme<\/strong> and engaging maths programme<\/strong> were singled out as particular strengths, with children making rapid progress in literacy and numeracy.<\/p>

Activities are rich, imaginative, and deeply engaging<\/strong>\u2014whether solving mathematical problems, participating in science experiments, or anticipating the next moment in a carefully crafted lesson.<\/p>

The report also praised staff for fostering confidence and self-esteem<\/strong>, particularly in communication, helping children feel safe to speak up, ask for help, and express their emotions.<\/strong><\/p>

Ofsted noted that \u201cevery child\u2019s unique character is nurtured<\/strong>\u201d and that staff provide \u201cexcellent care to help them feel respected and supported<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>

The Dolphins team was further celebrated for creating a calm, well-managed environment where impeccable behaviour is modelled and encouraged.<\/strong> From self-regulation techniques to child-led routines, children consistently demonstrate maturity and empathy beyond their years<\/strong>.<\/p>

Dolphins\u2019 innovative approach to health and wellbeing includes a unique daily exercise programme<\/strong>, and the setting works closely with families to promote healthy lifestyles and habits.<\/p>

Ofsted also praised the leadership team\u2019s passion, integrity<\/strong>, and commitment<\/strong> to staff wellbeing<\/strong>, noting \u201cThey consistently go above and beyond to make a positive difference.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>

The pre-school\u2019s high standards<\/strong>, child-centred approach<\/strong>, and strong partnership with parents and carers<\/strong> were commended, alongside a warm, stimulating environment that fosters independence, curiosity<\/strong>, and a lifelong love of learning<\/strong>.<\/p>

Families have responded with heartfelt messages celebrating the positive impact Dolphins has had on their children\u2019s development.<\/p>

\u201cWe\u2019ve been touched by the kind words from our community,\u201d said Marita Farrant. \u201cIt\u2019s rewarding that we are making a real difference in children\u2019s happiness, confidence, and learning outcomes.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>

Dolphins Pre-school continues to place a strong emphasis on communication and family engagement<\/strong>.<\/p>
