Who’s your Rock? A celebration of ‘One Moment In Time’

The project

St Peter’s Church are currently celebrating the 200th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone on 8th May 1824, a signifi cant milestone in the history of the church, with a project called ‘One Moment in Time’. Throughout the autumn and spring terms, we are running several exciting events and activities, and we would love to involve local schools and community groups.

‘Who’s Your Rock’ – Community art installation workshops

St Peter’s will host a captivating art installation, inviting participation from school groups to join these one-hour workshops, free of charge. Pupils will be asked to refl ect and celebrate the people in their lives who have supported them, serving as their ‘rock’.

The artworks will then come together into one installation piece in St Peter’s Church in the main church space throughout the Easter holidays in 2025. The artwork will hang at diff erent heights from the vaulted ceiling to create a wave eff ect, and represent the coming together of community. This will then be open to the public, and all are welcome to visit.

Your school’s involvement
We would like to co-ordinate our team member and artist facilitator coming to your school to run a hands-on art workshop with your group/s, focusing on artwork creation and heritage learning. The outcome will be that every child will create their own unique piece of cardboard tube artwork dedicated to their rock by placing a personal ribbon in the centre and decorating the outside.
