How we support eating disorders & body dysmorphic disorder recovery, in schools, through animation

At last, a ‘not for profit’ enterprise was set up in 2023 called ‘Body Image coach’, a team of directors, coaches, therapists and a volunteer.

‘We foundered ‘Body Image Coach’ because we have lived experience of body image disorders and know just how difficult and complex this field of mental health is. We are the early intervention that shows teenagers how to break their negative beliefs and habits in order to think and feel positively about their body – Olivia Bowden, Mental health coach’.

Working on-line across the globe, ‘Body image coach’ supports schools and parents that are showing signs of eating disorders and body dysmorphic disorder (known as BDD). Offering a full pre-recorded 6-week program, 1 hour per week (in animation); schools have implemented this into their curriculum for cohorts of pupils that are struggling with their mental health.

As well as animated videos, pupils can access 1-1 coaching, peer support and therapy. Parents are also encouraged to come forward if their children are showing the signs.

Since the project was launched ‘body image coach’ have supported over 300 teenagers between ages 11-16, reviews are on Trust Pilot @Body Image coach.

‘ I would absolutely recommend this – years 7,8,9 - Loxford school Ilford’

‘Body Image Coach worked hard to support our daughter and found a way to reach her – Parent details on trust pilot.’
