At 72, I Discovered Retirement Was Just the Beginning…& I created ‘My New Future’

Most people look forward to retirement.

After more than 45 years working in sales, marketing and business development, I thought I would finally slow down and enjoy a quieter life.

But like many retired people, I found myself wondering…

“How can I use the experience I’ve gained over the years to help other people?”

Looking back over my career, I realised I had been fortunate enough to work with charities, community organisations and small businesses.

The charities always impressed me with the dedication of their staff and volunteers, often achieving amazing things with very limited resources.

However, I also saw the other side.

Many spent weeks searching for grants, completing lengthy applications and dealing with administration instead of helping the people they existed to serve.

Sadly, I even saw worthwhile charities close because they couldn’t secure the funding they needed.

Earlier in my career, I also worked as a Business Consultant with Entrust in the North East, helping people start and grow their own businesses. I quickly discovered that many entrepreneurs faced similar challenges. Finding government grants and business funding could be confusing, time-consuming and often frustrating.

Whether it was a charity or a small business, the same problem kept appearing.

Too much time was being spent searching for information and completing paperwork instead of helping people or growing organisations.

Then artificial intelligence started becoming available to everyone.

Like millions of people around the world, I was fascinated by what it could already do, but even more excited by what it might be capable of in the future.

The more I learned about AI, the more I started asking myself questions.

Could it help charities secure more funding?
Could it help small businesses compete with much larger organisations?
Could it help ordinary people gain access to professional guidance that many could never normally afford?

I believed the answer was yes.

Instead of seeing AI as something to fear, I saw it as an opportunity to help people save time, reduce stress and create opportunities that simply hadn’t existed before.

That belief became the foundation of My New Future CIC.

Today, we’ve developed a growing range of easy-to-use AI assistants designed to support charities, businesses and individuals. From helping charities find funding and write grant applications to supporting business growth, personal development, health, relationships and young people preparing for their future, our aim is simple:

To help people spend less time on paperwork and more time making a difference.

Everything has been designed to be easy to use.

If you can write an email, you can use our AI assistants.

People sometimes ask me why I decided to start such an ambitious project at the age of 72.

My answer is simple.

Experience becomes most valuable when we use it to help other people.

If a charity secures funding that keeps an important community service running…

If a small business grows because someone finally found the support they needed…

If a young person discovers opportunities they never knew existed…

Then every hour spent building My New Future CIC has been worthwhile.

Retirement didn’t slow me down.

It gave me a new purpose.

And perhaps, just as importantly…

It gave me a new lease of life.
