Café Sobar is a laid-back and family-friendly venue in the centre of Nottingham, serving delicious food and drinks to kids and their adults. As well as a great children’s menu, there is a Kids’ Corner, loads of space for buggies, proper (clean) highchairs and breastfeeding is welcome. The venue also hosts regular music, comedy, art and family events. Located just off the Old Market Square, it’s a great place to escape the throngs and re-fuel.
Café Sobar, set up with the help of a Big Lottery grant, is a Community Interest Company so all profits go directly back into Double Impact the charity and help fund the services needed to support people to recover from drug and alcohol addiction. The cafe also provides opportunities for people in recovery to gain valuable volunteering experience. So whilst enjoying great food and drink you’ll also be supporting a fantastic cause and helping local people to change their lives.
The building Cafe Sobar is housed in was originally the headquarters of the Nottingham Building Society, officially opened in 1929. Through working closely with the Nottingham Building Society, Framework Housing Association and local design company Constellations, Double Impact have been able to sympathetically transform the space whilst retaining a lot of its stunning original features.
So whether you’re calling in for breakfast or coffee, lunch with the kids, or live music and mocktails in the evening, you can always be sure of a warm welcome (and if you don’t have time to stay we also offer a ‘grab and go’ take-away service).
