Our Montessori preschool is based in the Orpington Methodist Church Hall in central Orpington near to the Orpington Tescos. We are open five days a week term time with extended days on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Montessori approach to learning encourages exploration by your child in a prepared environment. Your child has the freedom to choose activities from low level shelves. There are planned group activities during the session, but if a child is engrossed in an activity they are allowed to continue until they are ready to move onto something else. This respect for the child’s needs and desires is essential for fostering concentration. The ability to concentrate on tasks and activities is one of the most important attributes your child can have to help them to achieve their full potential when they move up to the Reception class at School.
We pride ourselves on our childcare. Because we take children from 2 years we expect them to still be in nappies. Caring for very young children is more than just keeping them safe and clean. We talk to our children to help them to understand what is happening around them and so that we can understand their needs. The ‘key worker’ system helps to foster bonding between children and their assigned member of staff who is responsible for monitoring their progress and communicating with their parents.
The premises are a well cared for church hall which includes an outdoor play area. We run our own Forest School at our Nursery in Pratts Bottom (Rushmore House Montessori) which our children can attend.
